Job description

I’m looking for a developer to help fix an issue with the backend of a Node.js project for an e-commerce website I’m building to sell bicycle accessories in Ismaning, Germany. The project worked previously, but now when I run npm start, the process immediately exits without any error messages. I don’t have a technical background, so I need someone to troubleshoot and fix this so I can continue with the development.

The project is backend-only, built with Node.js version 23.11.0, and runs on Windows. There is no README.md or setup instructions, and I’m not sure if the project requires a database or environment variables. The likely entry point is index.js or app.js, but that needs to be confirmed. The site is not online yet, and I only need to get it working locally for now. I will handle hosting later.

What I expect from you: access the code, run npm install to install dependencies, and try to run the app with npm start. If it exits, investigate the problem, let me know what’s wrong, how long it will take to fix, and what the cost will be.

Before payment, I ask that you please send me a screenshot showing that you at least tried to run the project (for example, the terminal output after running npm start). Unfortunately, I’ve had freelancers disappear after payment without even starting the work, so I will only proceed with someone who shows they’ve at least looked into it. You can also briefly describe what you see and what the issue might be if anything is obvious.

Payment will be made after I receive the screenshot and your estimate for time and cost. I would like this issue resolved as soon as possible—ideally today.

If this goes well, I will need further help and will also be looking for a frontend developer, so this could turn into a long-term cooperation.

Required features

- Expertise in JavaScript and Node.js. - Knowledge of Express.js framework. - Expertise in E-commerce Websites

Preferable solution

Access the code and try to run the app with npm start. If it exits, investigate the issue and provide a solution. Let me know what’s wrong, how long it will take to fix, and your estimate for the cost. Before payment, I ask that you please send me a screenshot showing that you at least tried to run the project (for example, the terminal output after running npm start).
