I have experience with Excel since September 2016 - my main field of work is verify data from system (CRM) to reports. I use Power Query and Power Pivot for create useful tables with slicers (year, months, week, worker or categories which one you need). Also from this tables you can use pivot charts and change filters in charts. If you haven't app for following your workers - I can create table where you will see count of work day, day-off, vacation, illness, Gant chart or whatever you need. Also I can create form with drop-down list and you will see only needed information.

Google sheets - similar job will done.
